**New** Recommended Reading
Please consider reading the following self improvement books, all highly recommended.
The first ever self improvement book I read was "Think & Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill about 30 years ago. It encouraged me to write down written goals and the amounts of money I wanted to make by a certain deadline.
Around 1995 I discovered a company called Audio Books Direct which offered best selling self improvement titles on cassette. I then started to listen to a number of audio cassette programs from Simon & Schuster and Nightingale Conant. Amongst these were "The Psychology of Achievement" by Brian Tracy, "Unlimited Power" and "Giant Steps" by Anthony Robbins, "Yes or No, The Guide to Better Decisions" by Spencer Johnson, "Goals" by Zig Ziglar and "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R Covey. (Note I have now created a new page called Recommended Listening just for the audio CD programs).
Having listened to the audio programs, I then became curious about the books of the same name, and I eventually started going to live seminars in 2002.
At the seminars, further books were either recommended or actually given out as "freebies", and so my reading list has grown from there.
I became quite an intensive seminar enthusiast and remained so until 2006, when I decided it would be better to take a break from all the courses and actually put some of what I had learned into practice!
All of the above books are in my personal development library and have had a highly positive influence on my life. This is not an exhaustive list - you will often be able to find additional books by the authors mentioned above which I have not included as yet. I will add a few more as time goes by.
Best Self Improvement Books - By MRGRIMSDALE
Old Timers: In terms of agelessness, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, James Allen and George Clason all score highly. They all wrote a long time ago, but the principles behind the message remain largely unchanged, even today.
Spirituality: Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, James Allen and Susan Haywood. Susan's books are empowering and encouraging quotations by others and they are very powerful and uplifting. Neale Donald Walsche has some pretty enlightening "Conversations with God".
Wealthbuilding/Investing: Philip Fisher and Benjamin Graham come highly recommended by Warren Buffett. Both must reads for the budding investor.
Management and Change: Spencer Johnson and Ken Blanchard have written a great series of "One Minute Manager" books which are thin and simple to read and the principles (One Minute Goals, Praisings and Reprimands/Recoveries) are quick and simple to apply.
NLP & Hypnosis: Paul McKenna has written an series of books that all come with a hypnotic programming CD. Michael Neill edits Paul McKenna's books and has also written a few of his own.
Business & Winning: Richard Branson says: "Make Every Second Count".I should also mention Richard Carlson, David Schwartz, Malcolm Gladwell and Robert Kiyosaki for some enlightening and thought provoking observations about life and business.
Please note that if you order from these links, I will receive commission on the sale from Amazon. It will not cost you any more than Amazon's normal price as stated above.
*Please also note that the Brian Tracy product listed here is actually a CD program.
I have also added some other CD Audio programs to this page, although I have now created an additional page exclusively for listening, called Recommended Listening
I will move them off of this page as soon as I have figured out how to do it!
